Yaaaaay I had a good day shopping ~ There wasn't a single piece of clothing in my bag that I would normally buy (even the new work trousers are out of the ordinary since they're grey instead of black!) and somehow, SOMEHOW, 4 dress-like garments got into my hands o_O How'd THAT happen? I almost never wear dresses, not even casual ones!! Hopefully though this will stop me living in a rut of lazy jeans and GenkiGear t-shirts which, as awesome as they are, aren't something to be wearing all the time. I've worn 3 out already ;_; must not let any more wear out!

(Of course, absolutely no tidying up or anything of the sort happened today - once I got home I fell asleep for about 3 hours on the sofa ^^; Shopping is tiring!)

I have a new 3D blog - http://wikivic.blogspot.com/
(a virtual cookie and heaps of thanks to anyone with a paid account who would make an LJ friends list syndicated version of my feed ^^;; )
The blog exists to chart my progress into professional quality environment modelling, starting with my work on the Big Giant Doom Laser project. There's a lot left to populate it with - namely lots of Doom Laser work, plus many links to inspirational art sites and resources - but the general framework is there now ^_^
I'm really glad to have a place for just my 3D work and musings put together. It should be good for my own personal reference (somewhere to keep a load of useful links safe, and to remind myself how I solved certain art problems), but also hopefully useful to other aspiring environment artist. I may not be a master of environment art (yet >:) but I've picked up some tricks along the way that will hopefully be useful to others.
Also, you never know, it may be helpful in getting work if someone happens across it. I intend to post the link up over on GameArtisans as somewhere folks can go to see more work on my ex-Unearthly Challenge project, and I'd like to be a bit more active in the online 3D community too in general, though I'm not a massive forum poster any more as I just don't have any extra time ^^;
Job-wise I intend to finish the Doom Laser and probably my little Ghost Town project (to give some variety to my portfolio), then do a round of applications around spring next year. I'm thinking of applying to all of the games companies I like best in the entire world, just for a laugh XD

What a great night was had at the Grand Cosplay Ball!
I had a fab time, and the the costumes were all jaw dropping. ^__^
It was great getting to chat to people that I don't normally have time to at events I'm working, though I know I still missed people. You all looked amazing!
Something we'd kept a little quiet in the leadup was that
sonia_leong and I were planning to do a duet at the event. Neither of us had performed in public for years, and never together...and extra fun was added when we weren't able to do a rehearsal because of time restrictions (these things happen), haha. Despite that, we had a great time with it! We sang the song 'For Good' from Wicked, and - so we've been told - it didn't sound shit! yay!

Thanks to Chi ming Lai for the photo!
It's a shame Sonia's mostly in shadow for this one, check her LJ for a better shot of her (with me kind of peeking in at the side, haha) but even then you can see how amazing her outfit looked :)
I don't know if there's a video of it anywhere, but if anyone has one - do let us know. We couldn't hear much from where we were ^_~
The rest of the evening's entertainment was just amazing. Some fantasic voices and some phenomenal skills and personalities. Good show, all! Lovely to meet Yaya and Johnny Laser, who - even in our very short conversations - proved themselves to be people I'd love to talk to more. ^_^
I recommend this event next year. Even if you're not a cosplayer (and I'm certainly not), it's a chance to dress up to the nines and be part of a magical evening. Where else can you be in lush surroundings in a ball gown and yet still be bouncing around to the portal song? XD

Hey friends ♥
A lot happened in November!
First
lifeisforliving and Iain came over for dinner...
They brought some lovely macarons with them~ it was so delicious, I haven't had macarons in a long time ;w;!
We ate tofu in black bean sauce and vietnamese vegetarian spring roll ♥
I think I made the spring rolls pretty well until they fell apart ohoho...;;

And then on the weekend I went to a lolita meetup at Portsmouth's Victorian Christmas Festival.

I wore sweet again, not very victorian...heh º_º);;
( Victorian Christmas Festival Photos )
I want to go to the cinema to watch Bunny and the Bull (^▽^)!
How has everyone's November been? ♥ I hope you've all been well!

There is new art and Nightschool v3 FanArt Contest info on my DeviantArt, if anyone would like to see!
http://svetlania.deviantart.com/
And I totally drew some manga pictures the old-skool way while traveling in Japan:

...As in, all the ink and tone bits ended up on my FACE XD.
I am home now, another crazy year winding to its end... 2010 is going to be all about less travel and more sitting at home with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate. Can't waaaaaait \^o^/
Happy holidays to everyone!

Now I've finished my part of birdsong I feel almost dizzy, still nose back to the grindstone I still have plenty of work to do and I have a hankering to try making a mini comic over christmas.
Anyway I thought I'd share the above pages since the Famous Five cover is perhaps my favourite thing I've drawn for peckham.
I'll make a better post later in the week, right now I want to just doodle like a mad man.... I't been far too long...
What better way to make sure I draw a thing a day until christmas than with an advent countdown? And what better thing to do it with than robots? Thus, here is day one of my Robo Advent Calendar ^_^
Disclaimer: I do not promise any of these sketches will be good (they'll all be super quick), but hopefully some of them will have a trifling of personality (now I'm imagining a robot that's just had a massive trifle land on it...I could use that XD )
Anyway yup - what do you do first at christmas? Clean the house!

THE CLEANING IS DONE!! 8D
I have a perfectly clean house! Even down to the cutlery drawers, those dusty pipes behind the loo, the bottom of the wardrobe, and other such never-get-around-to-cleaning-it places :D
So took the longest lunch break ever and played a load more Fallout 3 as a celebration! I'm so back into it now, been playing it for about 2 weeks I think and I'm already at level 15. I think the worst thing about the game is that you get to the level cap of 20 way too soon and end up playing half the game with no hope of levelling up any more ;_; (I'm almost certain I'm getting the DLC for christmas tho, which will put the level cap up to 30 - but I'm guessing at the rate I'm playing it I'll have finished most of the main map by then ^^; )
Anyway yay! I'm free of the smell of various cleaning sprays! (I swear they were starting to give me headaches ^^; ) Banemoo's folks are visiting this weekend and we usually knacker ourselves out in the morning before they get here by doing all the cleaning, but this time all we're going to have to do is whip the hoover round quickly and make sure the washing up is all done - shortest cleanup ever :D
So, this afternoon is pegged for artz! I haven't drawn anything in over a week (feels weird o_o) so I'm feeling a bit lost...but I think I have a good idea of something silly just to get my hand back in ^_^ Then I need to start thinking of something good for my Sweatdrop Secret Santa pic - the 1st of December seems like an apt day to start thinking about it ^_^
Maybe later if I'm not too tired I'll sit down with a pile of small press comics and write some notes for reviews - I'm trying to work out what would be the best length for me to shoot for with reviews as I want them to be long enough to say something about the comic in question, but short enough to still be entertaining and kind of snappy. I guess it would depend on the comic (i.e.
emmav 's Much Ado About Nothing can't be done much justice by a 400 word review, but a single stapled one-shot issue might suit that length...). If anyone has any feedback on review length please let me know ^_^
I'd also like to get a little caught up with posting some bits n bobs to this journal - I haven't shown many of my lastest speed paintings done for Daily Draw here, or my latest project work, plus I still have a load of photos on Flickr that need labelling etc. so I can make them public...man, this journal must be pretty boring for anyone wanting some interesting images to look at >.<; I will try to do more image-based posts! ^^;;
Plus plus! I need to get my 3D blog up and running too! Lots to do, but I'm gonna do it all in a relaxed and thoughtful way rather than rushing - if there's one thing I've learned in the last couple of years its to prioritise your work, concentrate solely on one thing at a time in order, and do each thing well ^_^
And with that, I'm off!

Aww...I thought I only had 3 kitchen cupboards to finish off today, but it turns out I had 4 cupboards, plus 3 drawers to empty out ;_;
All the fronts of the cupboards and drawers are now cleaned tho, plus all I've emptied all the drawers, cleaned them, cleaned the cutlery tray, and re-filled them, plus I've completely cleaned out 2 of the cupboards and am now re-filling them too ~phew~
So, just 2 cupboards left to go...but one of them's the bin cupboard...not looking forward to that >.<;
Have got rid of a few kitchen things but I think we still have too many large kitchenware objects (pans, pyrex dishes, the wok, electricals...) to fit nicely in our cupboard space...just gonna have to stack things ingeniously I guess ^^;
I kind of wish we had nicer kitchen units and flooring tho - we've got shitty old 60s cupboards where the doors don't latch closed and some beige lino tiles on the floor that look like they were the original ones the flat came with - it doesn't make you feel so excited about seeing them nice and clean as they still look kinda crap ^^;;
Urgh...kitchen cleaning is like the complete opposite of fun -_____-;;; Right, better push on through and try and have it finished by lunchtime!

Tomorrow I have the day booked off work *_* My plan was to hitch a ride with Scott on his way to work and get all my Christmas shopping done in Bath before 11am, heading home just as the crowds start to descend onto Bath to make it unbearable. Last week however I decided to book a hair appointment for tomorrow, to get it tidied up and sorted out for Christmas.
But then the realisation set in that I’ll be walking around doing my xmas shopping with gorgeously salon-styled hair, something incredibly rare for me. Am I going to waste that on shopping for other people? No way, I’m going to take the opportunity of having nice hair and I’m going to go on a ‘Me’ clothes shopping spree instead. It will be nice to go try on clothes with nice tidy hair as opposed to scraggly been-at-work-all-day hair that I normally buy new clothes with XD Maybe that’s why I always buy casual clothes, because my hair is extremely casual when trying them on and dresses/smart stuff etc never look right. Maybe with nice hair it will be a different outcome...
I need to cheer up anyway, and in the absence of a holiday (for the last 3 years ;_;) then shopping will just have to do~

Anybody know of any good places to dance in Manhattan or Brooklyn? None of that hiphop/r&b cr*p. I want stuff that’s danceable, especially those Latin beats where I don’t have to talk to or meet anybody, just get down and groove with enough space to spin and move. It’s a little awkward pumping up the dance music and dancing with my roommates home. -_-;

bit of a FAIL day working, but since I faffed around so much, I'm going to stay up a bit and draw more cars i guess.

Ben's knocked up a nifty form to help your local retailer get your comics to you...it's genius. As, I'm sure, the comic will be!

Chapter 8! Uploaded a little late this week, sorry guys! Blame the Grand Cosplay Ball last night - which was a blast and a half! Anyways, back to Spiratu's domain....Enjoy, spread the word and, as always, any comments are very appreciated ^_^

these are technically the invisible layers on the cover but i ahd to get them done today [admittedly been putting it off]
Things I have learned in the last week: shower curtains and washing up bowls tend to last about 2-3 years before breaking. Wow, I can't believe we've lived here for so long we're having to replace the house basics I bought when we first moved in...I feel like we've been here too long now >.<;
Today should be my last day of house cleaning yay! Just the kitchen cupboards to sort through and then I'm 100% done! :D
(...so I guess you could expect a post from me later with pics of some kitchen stuff / recipe books going for free ^^; )
It sort of feels weird to do a major pre-christmas cleanup, but then not stock up on any christmas food (in the last couple of years we've been the hosts on christmas day, so by now I'd have been stocking up on cooking ingredients and various types of festive alcohol XD ). We're going to be spending the entire season at other people's houses tho this year so there's no need for any of that (which is a nice weight off the ol wallet ^^; )
I'm hoping to get the kitchen 100% done by lunchtime, then I can spend the rest of the day doing some Daily Draw stuff, possibly planning my Sweatdrop Secret Santa, and perhaps setting up my 3D blog! Unfortunately the person I have for SSS has a taste in art that is almost the opposite style to what I can do well naturally, so I'm going to have to experiment a bit for that one ^^;;
