Books Get!

Okay! so after the rather traumatising event of not getting my books on time for expo last, I made sure to get them well in advance this time around, and it all seemed to work out well!

So I can now, with confidence announce that Between Worlds in black and white will be available on the IndieManga table at Expo! woohoo!

This one is only £4 so shouldn't break the ol bank, and it doesn't look too bad at all in black and white if I do say so myself!

Libra

This is my absolute favourite time of the year, right now, I'm a Libra girl, it's Libra time

Something in the air, burning fires, cold sky, gets dark at just the right time, not too early, not too late. A time of change. Only this year, no change for me.

It's wierd having no school, college.. nothing to return to. the first autumn in a very long time where I have nothing to prepare for, just life. Its both terrifying and soothing at the same time.

I hope it's my year, I hope I have something to look forward to, I hope something changes.

About time I got back onto this!

So Expo wil be upon us kind of soonish, and with a bit of luck from the money fairy, I hope to get the black and white a5ish size version of this done up for it (not promising anything, you know how my printing luck is!)

But I am hoping to sell it for only £4 pounds! WOW! so anyone who didnt catch one of the special edition ones can ow choose their poison! (and anyone that bought one of the special edition ones, and for some reason, wants one of these too, just drop me a line, you can has for free shhhhhh)

25 things no one needs to know about me XD

I'm generally not very good at all about talking about myself online, but hell, I'll give it a go, ya never know, might let people get to know me a bit more! *tries to think of things people wouldn't already know*

1. I used to create a comic called 'Planet SLOR' with my brother and sister when I was about 10, which was heavily uummm... influenced by the Beano and Dandy. TBH, I've been putting together books and comics since I was quite young, but I usually class 'Tenshi' as my first proper comic, done when I was 16

2. I wanted to be a barrister for a while. It wasn't til I turned 15 that I realised I could be an artist and NOT have to paint on canvases and do all that typical stuff, the idea of being the stereotypical artist disgusted me, still kind of does XD

3. I used to work in a costume and street theatre group called Buí Bolg (yellow belly!) for one summer I had the greatest job ever, being creative! hopefully someday I can get back to doing something similar!

4. I find it exceptionally hard to trust people. I can be friends and get on with people very well, and I do genuinely love my closest friends, but I always expect them to walk away at any time, and I'm always ready for it. Its the main reason I tend to withdraw, not text people back etc. There was a time when I did... but that's history...

5. the openings of every Disney film never fails to have me in tears, or at least choking them back. Disney really know how to create an atmosphere, that and the fact that it's all just made for kids just chokes me up! ;_;

6. I don't plan to get married or get involved with anyone romantically, I'm just not interested, cant stand the thought of being with one person for the rest of my life, I'm too fickle and easily irritated.

7. There was a time where I played just about every sport.. *sigh* what went wrong eh?

8. I hate when people pronounce words wrong, I don't mean like an accent, but like when people say 'modren' instead of 'modern' 'heees' instead of 'his' really pisses me off

9. I have never left Europe! would really love to travel, have no idea how I'd go about it!

10. I'm afraid of a LOT of things, mostly very strange things, my mom always said I was a very nervous child, probably cos she dropped me down the stairs when I was a baby (not kidding O_o) some of those things are
Lifts,
hidden things,
spiders,
canal lock gates,
buildings that have been empty for a long time,
small blinking lights in the dark,
fire alarms (theres one in particular that had me in cold sweats just thinking about it when I was a kid O_o;)
Rich people

11. Things I like, however, are just as plentiful and wierd, such as
smoking when its raining
also, when it rains and you're inside, especially at night!
babies (the ones what dont cry XD)
The pokemon movie
orange city lights
anything art deco!

12. believe it or not, I'm not a very vengeful person. People may piss me off, but I prefer to just move on, If someone were to screw me over, I just walk away. I try not to let on I'm annoyed, but I'm sure you could tell!

13. I used to cry nearly every day, I've gotten very good at holding it back though these days though! now it's actually fairly rare! unless I'm watching beauty and the beast... ;_;

14. I only ever fancy Gay men, and the odd girl XD I think I'm a gay man in a woman's body.

15. I can speak fairly good Irish, but I wont speak it, because most Irish speakers are elitist tossers

16. I used to sing! I don't think I was particularly good, but I was part of a choir when I was 13 so I was quite well trained, loved it very much! sadly, when I moved to wexford, they had none of the sort for anyone who didn't do music

17. I have very vivid dreams nearly every night, and a few recurring ones. One in particular is where im flying. It's always a shaky flight, not easy, and if i fly over train tracks, I get very scared, like NIGHTMARE scared! its not something i'd be afraid of while awake, so that always interests me

18. on the subject of dreams, when I was 16, I had a dream about, or including a train nearly every night for the whole year, it worried me a lot.

19. which leads me on to beliefs etc. I'm not religious, agnostic would be the best term for me, but I do believe in a kind of fate, everything happens for a reason, and I like to go with my gut feelings on things.

20. I'm a people watcher, I love getting to know people, and how they tick. If someone doesn't let me in to that part of themselves, consider me not interested! I can figure people out in one look.

21. it really REALLY pisses me off when people avoid making eye contact with me. I take it as a massive insult. I understand people may be shy at first, but after making initial contact, there's no excuse

22. I am very very good at talking complete crap as if I was a college lecturer

23. My laugh can carry for over one mile

24. I named my comic Between worlds after a song by Mícheal Ó Súilleabhán which was actually named wrong on the album! I chose it because it best describes not only the story, but how I tend to be myself, extremely indecisive, like to stay balanced, always between words.

25. this took me forever to write, now that I'm finished, I'll remember the interesting stuff about myself! XD

This one here delights me actually, I drew a traveller family that were on the boat when I went to Expo. The little boy on the left side really did look like that, he was both terrifying and hilarious with his sheepskin jacket and gold earring. His mother was like a wraith...

Not long ago, I headed back to my folk's house to take a look at all of my old art and sketchbooks.

I wanted to have a look back at the kind of things I used to be pretty much obsessed with as a teenager, and my need to get these things down on paper, as drawings, writings and comics.

Most of the themes and ideas I had as a kid have long left me today, but here's a selection of the stuff I found.

I'll be posting these in a couple of entries as there's so much, so here's the first load, all circa 2004

Phew!, after 20 hours of sleep, I think I'm just about able to report back on my FABBO expo experience.

What's that you say, how the hell could you have had a good time considering you had such a bummy time not getting those comics?

You know what, I'm surprised myself! But it ended up being one of the best weekends I've ever had, Thank you so much to the organisers! especially the fantaaaaawstic Emma Vieceli, who probably lost a stone in weight running around and making it such a success for all of us. seriously, thank you Emma, I don't think I said it to you enough over the weekend, but you did such an amazing job girl *pats on back*

Thanks again to Morag Lewis, who helped me out so much while desperately searching for my elusive book! You're a proper lady, and I want your pocket watch.

And thanks to all the people who came by the table and said hi, bought stuff and generally entertained us! I think I must have met half the sweatdrop forum!

Managed to pick up a few books, not as many as I would have liked, but shall keep me entertained for a while!

The journey over and back was quite a feat, left at 8pm friday for the bus/boat and arrived in London at 8.30am! managed to keep my energy up for the Saturday due to the excitement! Met Kate at the front of Excel, lookin HAWT in her IndieManga power suit™ and scared the life out of Azure by grabbing her from behind UGABUGGA!! had a very "runny around" day, getting changed in bathroom, running to find comics that were actually holidaying in Tunbridge and facing the trek to the door every time I needed a smoke (srsly need to quit)

Sunday was faaaar more relaxed managed to meet a few more peeps, got sweets from Jatzu, and cake from Hel! WIN.

Had to leave a little early as the awesome journey home was looming.

When I pulled in to Dublin port, couldn't help but sing "Old Town" by Phil Lynott in my brain...

Just a quick post to say that the printers, after cock up after cock up, they have put it in for the wrong delivery, and I most likely wont be getting Between Worlds for Expo.

And as I now have no way of making the money back, wont have a lot of money to spend on all the other new books :( ah well, at least its money saved for a lot of you!

Okay, I managed to have a rather super epic marathon comic sesh last night (drawing til 3am I was, no lie)

So I estimate that if I manage to do the same today, I shall have the first part of Between Worlds finished today! woo hoo!

So I ask all of you to keep your fingers crossed that I dont explode before I manage to finish.

I was set back to see that there were no more 2l bottles of lucozade in tesco today :( so I bought cheap tesco red bull instead... I'm not a fan of red bull at all, it generally just makes me irratable rather than energised, but we'll see how it works out.
